George Alukal

Vice President Quality and Process Improvement

George Alukal has more than 30 years' experience in manufacturing with expertise in management, quality, process improvement and lean. He is a certified quality manager, auditor, engineer, and has passed the ISO 9000 lead assessor examination.

Before joining CMC, George was with Chicago-based Larson Forgings, where he progressed from Quality Manager to Vice President and an elected member of the board. During that time he was instrumental in increasing sales five-fold through quality and process improvements, penetration into new industries and customer service innovation.

George is a member of the board of examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and has served as a judge for the Illinois Manufacturing Association's Team Excellence Award. He is an elected fellow and past chairman of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Chicago Section and also served as director of their Training Institute. He was the first chairman of ASQ's Lean Enterprise Division. In addition, he developed and currently teaches ASQ's two-day Lean course and one day Kaizen course as well as several quality and process improvement courses, including ISO 9000, ISO 13485, TS16949, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Certified Quality Manager Refresher, etc. Alukal also speaks on TQM and Lean topics. He is the co-author of the book Lean Kaizen.

He earned a BS in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, an MS in engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA in general management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
